|“The plans of the diligent lead to profit.” -Proverbs 21:5|
|“He who labors diligently need never despair, for all things are accomplished by diligence and labor.” -Menander|
|Scripture tells us to rely on God and wait for Him. It tells us that He has blessings for us that we can’t earn and that He loves to give gifts to His children.
But there’s another principle in the Bible that we shouldn’t ignore: the principle of hard work. The book of Proverbs instructs us to look to the ant, who has no “overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest” (6:7-8). If we want a bright future—if we want to enjoy benefits in the short-term as well as the long-term—we have to put our nose to the grindstone and do some work.
So while it’s important to wait on God and look to Him for provision, perhaps one of the best things to do while we’re waiting is work hard.
Dear Lord, thank You for the blessings in my life. Give me a spirit of diligence and commitment to the tasks in front of me. Amen.
